The inaugural entry
Well, this is the first of what should hopefully be many entries over the next 12 months or so that I am away from Australia. It's Sunday afternoon, and by this time tomorrow I'll be winging my way to Los Angeles, to begin this overseas sabbatical I've signed myself up for.
I must say, the excitement of going is tinged with some regret, as one can't help but think of what I'm leaving behind - friends, family, the mighty Wests Tigers - but, like all things, they'll still be here next year. (And hopefully in a better position on the ladder, in the case of the latter example.)
Still, all that's in my head, as I'm sure I won't be too worried once I'm gone. I think it's a good time to travel, as the job I left was one that I could walk away from without sacrificing any major career prospects. Also, when I'm working full-time in years to come, I'll know what the big wide world is like and won't find myself staring out the office window and wondering what England would be like, primarily because I'll have already been there.
Anyways, I promised I'd keep this initial entry brief, since it's rather boring without anything touristy to write about, so, to anyone who reads this, whether it be my mates from St Paul's, the gaming geeks (or the indoor cricket team, as I'm sure they'd prefer to be called), the band - THE BAND ELWOOD, THE BAND! - or the people from TWC, or even just random people who happened to stumble across this, hopefully you'll read and comment often, and keep me informed of what's going on in the wonderful land of Oz.
Cheers all.
Paul
